Laurie Anderson (American Originals)
John Alden Howell met Laurie Anderson at her first major SoHo performance, in 1973; after the show, he helped carry her equipment down the loft stairs and they became acquainted. "Laurie Anderson (American Originals)" is a personal look at the early days of her performance work, from the 1970s up to the early 90s. The book's essay, interview, and bibliography are each informed by Howell's personal experience of her performances, and the now legendary early SoHo art world days which formed them.
